The Plate
The California Department of Education is submitting the application for the Mental Health Awareness License Plate. Please join us in supporting the movement to bring Mental Health into the Light. Lets start with a traffic light. All monies raised will go to supporting youth mental health in our schools.
That Awesome Design
This beautiful design is a result of a Statewide Contest for High School students in collaboration with California Assoc of Art Educators.
Winning design submitted by Anushree B. of Dougherty Valley High School, San Ramon CA
Her inspiration came from hope that California can be a leader in our country in mental health.
Why Now
- 1 in 4 young people age 18 to 24 have seriously considered suicide in the past 30 days
- California ranks 48th in the nation for providing mental health support to kids 3-17 that need it
- 75% of mental health issues present themselves before a child leaves school
- Auditor for California found that of 1,034 School Districts found that NONE employed the recommended minimum counselors, nurses social workers or psychologists
